What To Do This Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend is all about relaxation and fun, whether you’re sleeping in late, lounging by the pool or hanging at the lake, you deserve this time off. Take a break from the daily grind with these restaurant specials and activities:

MAX’s Wine Dive Austin is offering a Labor Day To-Go Picnic for Two. Menu items include 2 duck deviled eggs, 5 pieces of their famous fried chicken, mashed potatoes and collard greens as well as a bottle of The Prodige champagne, all for $45.

Why not enjoy your picnic on the water? Escape the heat of downtown Austin and take a dip in Barton Springs Pool this weekend. The scenic views, refreshing water and family environment make it the perfect place to unwind this weekend.

Extend the weekend and enjoy Monday brunch at TRACE from 10:30am-3pm. Relax on the patio and people-watch or enjoy your meal inside as the first mimosa, Bloody Mary or South Austin Eyeopener is complimentary with the purchase of a brunch entrée and is just $3 thereafter. Choose from dishes like Gulf Shrimp and Grits made with homestead heritage grits, housemade andouille, roasted shrimp, spicy bacon and ham jus; Golden Malted Waffle with apple cinnamon preserve, candied pecans, crème fraiche; and Chicken Fried Lockhart Quail & Waffles with pink peppercorn maple butter.

After brunch turn the corner and walk down to Town Lake and rent a stand up paddleboard, kayak or canoe for a fun day on the water. If you wait until dusk, you can rent your paddleboard while watching the bats fly on the Congress Bridge. What better way to end your day?

Back with a new name but the same fun, the popular downtown pool party series, “SHOCK WAVE”, returned this year for its second season. Taking place Labor Day Monday, guests can relax poolside from 2 to 6 pm while taking in scenic downtown views and DJ beats from Bird Peterson. The $30 cover includes admission, complimentary valet and drinks specials, while hotel guests receive complimentary admission. Want some extra time in the sun? SHOCK WAVE attendees can access the WET Deck starting at noon.

You won’t want to miss a sunset this weekend, and what better place to watch it than from the iconic Mount Bonnell. After hiking up the 99 stairs to reach the top, this view is well deserved!

St. Philip will offer Sunday brunch, with menu items such as brisket hash and bruléed French toast. The restaurant and bakeshop will also be open on Monday, offering happy hour from 3pm to close.

If you’re willing to make a short drive, head out to Enchanted Rock for a fun day of climbing and exploring. Make sure to pack your camera – you won’t want to forget the views from the top of the rock.

Now for the remainder of the Dog Days of Summer, Fixe guests can partake in a Southern Fish Fry during the Daily Social. The Summer Fish Fry includes Anson Mills Antebellum cornmeal fried catfish, hand cut Kennebec fires, and Fixe tartar sauce for $8.
