Our Favorite Patios in Austin

Now that the weather in Texas seems to be heating up we’re excited to spend our weekends lounging at the best outdoor spots in Austin, grabbing a leisurely lunch or having a cocktail to wind down from an unreasonably long winter. Here are some of our favorite places to soak up the beautiful spring weather:

Need a cure for your work week blues? TRACE’s expansive patio is the perfect place to grab a glass of wine or a cocktail. Get there between 5 and 7pm to try the new Happy Hour menu which also includes $25 cocktail pitchers! Bonus: some of the best people-watching Austin has to offer.

It’s no secret that Austinites start flocking to Zilker Park the second temperatures reach 70 degrees. Stop by Shady Grove on Barton Springs after taking a dip in Barton Springs pool or throwing a Frisbee at the park. The restaurant’s patio is the best environment to have a Texas Martini or two.

For a fun night out, make sure to stop by Star Bar on West 6th Street. Take your choice of the front patio where you can take in all the sights of downtown Austin, or the back patio which is equipped with enough massive TVs to get your fix of March Madness. Next, hop right down the street to Rattle Inn. The enormous patio on the second story will give you an amazing view of the Austin skyline. Rattle Inn will soon be the first West 6th bar to serve craft cocktails, so make sure you take advantage of the new menu while you’re there.

On the first Saturday of the month, visit one of Independence Brewing’s First Saturday events. Bring your sunglasses and lawn chairs and come hang out with fellow Austin beer-lovers. You’ll get beer, music, and warm rays of sunshine. What more could you ask for?

What’s better than brunch than brunch on a patio? Wake up Sunday morning and relax before the week ahead with brunch at The Bonneville. Order a mimosa to go with your Bananas Foster French Toast and enjoy a great view of Town Lake.

Finish the weekend off with a trip to Mozart’s to prepare for the week ahead. A cup of coffee and a nice view of the sunset on the lake will put you in the right frame of mind and hopefully keep away the Monday blues.

If Monday rolls around and you’re missing all of the fresh weekend air, head to Mean Eyed Cat Bar. Not only do they have some great outdoor space to enjoy a beer and tasty Stubb’s barbecue, they also host a singer/songwriter showcase every Monday.

Gibson Bar also hosts fun events on their patio. Be sure to stop by Mustache Mondays, where a mustache will get you $3 Maker’s Mark. No worries ladies – they’ll give you a fake one if you’re incapable of growing facial hair.
